The all flange tee is the backbone of pipeline branching in water distribution. Learn why material selection and pressure rating matter for East African infrastructure projects.
Every water distribution network eventually needs to split a flow — to branch off a supply to a neighbourhood, connect to a treatment plant offtake, or tie into an existing main. The component that makes that junction possible is the tee fitting, and when it comes to ductile iron pipeline systems, the all flange tee is the professional standard.
An all flange tee is a T-shaped pipe fitting with flanged ends on all three outlets — the two ends of the run and the branch outlet. All three connections are made using bolted flanged joints, giving the installer full flexibility to align and adjust the fitting before final tightening.
This distinguishes it from a socketed or spigot-and-socket tee, where connections are made with rubber ring push-fit joints that offer less adjustment during installation.
Ductile iron (DI) has replaced cast iron as the material of choice for buried and above-ground water mains across the world. The reason is strength: ductile iron has a tensile strength of 420 MPa compared to cast iron's 200 MPa, meaning DI fittings can withstand far greater working pressures, surge pressures, and mechanical loads without fracturing.
For Kenyan water infrastructure — where ground movement, temperature cycling, and variable water hammer are everyday realities — ductile iron all flange tees provide the reliability that HDPE fittings cannot match at larger diameters.
Our DI all flange tees conform to ISO 2531 and EN 545 standards and are available in sizes from DN80 up to DN600:
Specify an all flange tee when the branch connection requires precise alignment — for example, where a gate valve or butterfly valve is to be installed immediately on the branch outlet. The flanged branch gives you a flat, square connection face that mates perfectly with the valve's flange.
For buried distribution mains where the branch direction is fixed and no valve is required, a socketed tee may be more economical. Our technical team can advise on the most appropriate configuration for your project.
All flange tees in common sizes (DN100–DN300) are stocked at our Ruiru warehouse. Larger sizes and non-standard configurations are available to order with a 4–8 week lead time. We supply to NCA-registered contractors, county water utilities, and institutional buyers on LPO terms.
