Lightweight, fast-acting, and built for high-flow applications, discover why butterfly valves are the preferred choice for water utilities across East Africa.
When it comes to controlling flow in large-diameter pipelines, no valve type offers a better combination of speed, cost, and reliability than the butterfly valve. At Emcor Hass Group, we supply a full range of butterfly valves engineered for the demanding conditions found in Kenya's water treatment plants, municipal distribution networks, and large-scale irrigation systems.
A butterfly valve uses a rotating disc — the "butterfly" — mounted on a central shaft to control the flow of fluid through a pipe. A quarter-turn (90°) moves the valve from fully open to fully closed, making operation fast and simple. The disc remains in the flow path in all positions, which gives it a compact form factor compared to gate or globe valves.
Butterfly valves deliver exceptional value across several critical dimensions:
We supply both wafer and flanged butterfly valves in ductile iron, stainless steel, and cast iron body materials. Seat options include EPDM (for clean water), NBR (for wastewater), and PTFE (for chemical service). Actuator-ready designs are available for remote operation in automated pump stations and treatment works.
All valves in our range meet BS EN 593 and DIN 3354 standards, and are pressure-rated to PN10 and PN16 as standard, with PN25 available on request.
Our butterfly valves are actively deployed across a wide range of projects including:
Butterfly valves are stocked in our Ruiru warehouse for immediate supply. For project quantities and non-standard sizes, lead times are typically 3–6 weeks. LPO supply is available for county governments, NGOs, and institutions.
